i had a red wine stains on my light ivory coloured leather sofa we had a few people over and the wine wasnt noticed until the next day. i used lemon cif on my sofa to remove a wine stain and wiped it off with a baby wipe. i regularly clean it with a lemon and always wipe it off with a baby wipe. this has completely removed the stain no hard rubbing needed, it keeps it nice and fresh also.

If wine is spilled on carpet, dont blot. Run for the salt and pour as much as possible wait a while then vaccum the mess away.

Problem with flies or roaches? Leave out a saucer with wine and vinegar. The sweetness from the wine will draw them in, and the vinegar will kill them. Alternately, use a mason jar with a small volume of wine. Put a layer of saran wrap atop it and make sure to puncture some holes. (They may be a bit tipsy so won't find the exits!)

RED WINE STAIN: Pour kitchen salt on, leave for a few minutes, then pour white wine on to your stain, and then leave for 5 minutes, then soak the affected fabic in cold water, the longer the better. Leave to dry naturally.

Use soda water to remove stains from spilt wine, milk or vomit (useful for car journeys). It must be done straight away. As soda water lifts spillage like oxyclean. Put towel over area and tread on. Do not rub as you will rub stain in.

If you spill red wine on carpets instead of pouring white wine over it pour over lemonade it does exactly the same job and you get to save the white wine for yourself, who wants to waste wine on the floor!!

If you get red wine on something then genuinely use white wine to get rid of it. It's like those oxyclean adverts except it actually works!
