To remove deodorant stains from shirts etc., soak in white vinegar and warm water for 30 minutes before putting into the washing machine, the vinegar softens the deodorant and the detergent does the rest.

Mildew and food particles tend to settle in the bottom of the silverware holder attached to my plastic dish drainer. Just adding a few drops of bleach directly to the bottom of the silverware container after cleaning it has prevented ant brown mildew build-up.

I had a bad ink stain on my new carpet once . My son's pen exploded on the carpet and it was days before I found it. Milk, Milk got the stain out.I poured some in a bowl and used a white clean cloth and soaked it in the milk, then I gently rubbed the cloth into the ink stain. I used a steam cleaner afterwards to finish the job. But not until there was no trace of ink left in the carpet. But Milk did the job.

Rug Cleaning Tip Always rub or brush lightly from the outer edge toward the center of the stain to prevent spreading or causing the ring when using solvents especially on twist rugs and pile carpets. On old, dry or stubborn stains, saturate, blot, and brush. Repeat this operation as often as necessary to remove the stain completely. To Lorimay, who has grease stains on glass: Have you tried the K&A standard of 1 part vinegar, 1 part warm water, and a few squirts of liquid soap? The vinegar and soap are both great grease fighters. I have just used this on a very old mucky sash window I picked up at a flea market (read: picture frame) and it turned out very well. Mix the ingredients in a spray bottle and use crumpled newspaper to wipe. This will take a little bit of elbow grease, but it works like a charm.

cookers- when your stainless steel in the oven are brown with brunt on food, place them in a bath of hot water with a sprinkle of washing powder and leave over night - the next day the dirt will slide off when you wash them and also removes any stains in your bath it kills two birds with one stone.

Stephy, you have a problem with smoke stains in your auto. My husband just sprays windex on all the vinyl and hands, let sit for a bout five minutes and wipe with dry cloth. Works great.

For mold on the ceiling in the bathroom: dilute bleach in a spray bottle with water and spray away. The bleach kills the mold and fades any stains without need of scrubbing.
