Need suggestion. I had a fire in my kitchen which has left the walls and the roof stained with smoke. I could wipe off only a part of it though not clearly. was wondering if there is a way to clean the walls to avoid repainting. TRY USING A SUGAR SOAP SOLUTION :)

To rid your car from cigarette odors, take and cut up some apples and place them in a paper bag ,set the bag in the back or under the seat for a few days. Cigarette and smoke odor will be gone in a few days.

Stephy, you have a problem with smoke stains in your auto. My husband just sprays windex on all the vinyl and hands, let sit for a bout five minutes and wipe with dry cloth. Works great.

We have old Edwardian brilliant cut glass badly stained with 100+ years of coal dust, smoke & nicotine which seemed impossible to clean with conventional cleaners. We made a paste of bicarb & vinegar and smeared over, left it for 15 minutes and washed off with a bit of elbow grease - the glass is now sparkling clean.

If you have cat smells (I had 10 cats!!! I know this is an issue) such as a male spraying on smething such as shoes, purses or if you want to remove smoke odors from something (this only works on things that can be placed in a plastic toter.) put about 1 inch of kitty litter (non-clumping) in the bottom of a large plastic storage box, take a grate of some sort, fridge stove whatever you can set something out of the litter with, and let it set in there about a week. It will pull out and absorb horrible scents. If you can set the box outside in the sun - that's even better! This works great on books and musty items too - even horribly stinky shoes!!! To keep shoes fresh, take an old nylon knee-high stocking and fill it partially with litter and stuff it into the shoes overnight, each night!

To remove smells, like smoke, from wood furniture, I crumple clean newspapers and leave them in the cabinets. Change daily. For fabrics I have put baking soda in small fabric bag, inside a trashbag with the smelly clothes.

Can anyone help...? I have just bought a second hand leather sofa and it stinks of cigarette smoke! I have tried airing the sofa, wiping it down with anti bacterial wipes and even spraying the bottom with fabreeze but it still smells bad! Does anyone know how to remove the smell of smoke without damaging the leather? Thanks Fee

To get rid of cooking smells, I've come across this marvellous product in Lakeland called Cleanaer. Not sure exactly how it works but believe me it does! Automatically, 24/7 and is battery powered. Also gets rid of pet and smoke smells too.

If you need to get rid of smoke smell on furniture then place small air fresheners around the item and gradually the wood will absorb the new smell
