Don't waste precious fridge space with bowls of baking soda or coffee - pop in a whole lemon (or two) to absorb smells & deodorise your fridge naturally. Replace it every few months.

you don't need stainless steel balls or spoons to remove those odours on hands, if you have a stainless steel sink just rub your hands around it and odours will vanish. Even works on onion smells.

I was hoping that someone could give me a tip. The cabinet under my bathroom sink smells funky. It smells of a combination of urine and damp. I tried cleaning the cabinet, spraying it w/lysol and putting a mixture of baking soda and carpet freshener and none of it helped. Does anyone have any suggestions that work??? Thanks, Alisa

If you have cat smells (I had 10 cats!!! I know this is an issue) such as a male spraying on smething such as shoes, purses or if you want to remove smoke odors from something (this only works on things that can be placed in a plastic toter.) put about 1 inch of kitty litter (non-clumping) in the bottom of a large plastic storage box, take a grate of some sort, fridge stove whatever you can set something out of the litter with, and let it set in there about a week. It will pull out and absorb horrible scents. If you can set the box outside in the sun - that's even better! This works great on books and musty items too - even horribly stinky shoes!!! To keep shoes fresh, take an old nylon knee-high stocking and fill it partially with litter and stuff it into the shoes overnight, each night!

To remove smells, like smoke, from wood furniture, I crumple clean newspapers and leave them in the cabinets. Change daily. For fabrics I have put baking soda in small fabric bag, inside a trashbag with the smelly clothes.

An easy way to get rid of hairspray buildup....combine water and liquid fabric softner (equal parts). Residue comes off easily from floor, countertops and cabinets and it smells great too!

After you have finished sqeezing the juice of a lemon, put half in your dishwasher and put on quick wash. It's a cheap way to clean your dishwasher and get rid of nasty smells. Fill the other half lemon with salt and sit in the fridge to absorb nasty smells.

brighten a whole room by dry dusting the light bulbs! Also from learning the hard way: NEVER wipe those light bulbs with a dryer sheet! It smells so good at first, then the perfume burns and smokes and turns your bulb black. Live & learn!

About the microwave, the best thing that I have done is put a cup of water in with some lemon juice and let it boil for a few minutes and then wipe out the microwave and it smells good and all the goop comes out as nice as pie. crazyknittincook
