I compost my garbage for my small garden. I place peelings and other vegetable waste in a plastic food storage tub next to my sink until it fills. Then I place the waste in my composter. The plastic food container tends to smell badly by the time it is full. I have found wiping it and the lid out with white vinegar and letting it air dry solves this problem with little fuss.

I add a cap full of bleach, and a drop of dish washing liquid to hot water in my sink and soak my dishcloths over night. In the morning the cloths are clean and sanitized and the sink is sparkling and disinfected.

as 4 getting rid of ants in the kitchen, make sure counter and sink are clean and dry! also no leaks in the faucet or under sink. ants love water and crumbs. try leaving a cup of bleach around sink area or were you see them coming from. or use granule insect bait in cracks and around outside of windows

Keep a chucks sponge in the bathroom at all times. Everyday when I brush my teeth I wipe the sink, mirror, bench and bath with the chucks. It takes 30 seconds if you do it everyday. Just use water and squeeze out really well and your entire bathroom and even mirror will sparkle. You may think the mirror will be hazy but it dries crystal clear. I have two kids and my bathroom is always sparkling. I use a cleaner on my bathroom once a week and at this time again only takes about 1 minute to clean.

you don't need stainless steel balls or spoons to remove those odours on hands, if you have a stainless steel sink just rub your hands around it and odours will vanish. Even works on onion smells.

I was hoping that someone could give me a tip. The cabinet under my bathroom sink smells funky. It smells of a combination of urine and damp. I tried cleaning the cabinet, spraying it w/lysol and putting a mixture of baking soda and carpet freshener and none of it helped. Does anyone have any suggestions that work??? Thanks, Alisa

Before cleaning a bathroom (especially in homes with pets, and men who trim mustaches) I use the vacuum crevice tool attatchment to quickly vacuum up all the dry hair from floors, shower, sink etc. It's much easier than trying to clean (and catch !) all those unruly hairs once they get wet.

When preparing dinner, keep a bowl handy to throw in your veggie peelings and other garbage while preparing your food. Makes for easy clean up. As well before I start my prep. I fill the sink with hot soapy water to put the dishes in that I am using. Supper time is easy and effortless!

To keep sink clean, after wshing up, I sprinkly surface with bicarbonate of soda and spritz with vinegar I keep in a spray bottle. I use my (clean) dish rag to scrub the surface, then rinse with hot water. Follow up with hydrogen peroxide and you increase the antibacterial punch and reduce water spots. This is environmentally friendly and works better than any commercial cleaners!

When my baked on enamel roaster pan gets "stuck on dirty", I simply put it in the oven on the cleaning cycle for about an hour. Then, after it's cooled, I put it in the sink and rinse and wipe it down. NO SCRUBBING! Saves lot's of time and elbow grease.

To clean a stainless steel sink: I sprinkle bicarbonate of soda all over sink and tap. Then with a tiny spritz of proprietary all-purpose cleaner with bleach. Scrub gently with a nylon scourer, then dampen micro-fiber cloth or any cloth with warm water and remove it all. Buff to a shiny dry sink. I find micro-fiber clothes in the automotive department of any discount retail shop. I love you Kim and Agzies. Stevie in the States (Seattle)

I use a nylon scouring pad as a soap dish on my bathroom sink. Every couple of days when the pad gets "gunky" with the soap drippings I just turn on the hot tap and scour around the sink with the soap on the pad and it cleans it well enough to hold me over until the weekend or so when I can give it a proper clean.

Question. Does anybody know which products are safe to use on a 'plastic' sink ? It's one of those modern ones in a fitted kitchen. It has stains etc, but I'm worried that chemicals will melt it.

My grandmother taught me this: for a stained kitchen dishrag, wet with hot water and wring out, lay flat in bottom of sink and pour about 2 tablespoons of bleach on it, fold it in half twice or three times and roll it up very tightly and leave it set in the sink or on the counter until it is nice and white. It doesn't matter if you leave it until it's dry, unless it is worn and thin, then sometimes the bleach will eat a hole in it.

f you have a dirty pan that you just can't seem to get clean or you burned something this really works! Squirt a little dishwasher detergent in the pan and fill with hot water. If it is encrusted inside and out then fill the sink and immerse the offending pan. You can leave it overnight but if it is just stuff burned or dried on a few hours will suffice. Works great even on old baked on stains! Scrub with nylon brillo pad. It usually wipes right off with no effort. The best brand I have found is Cascade Complete. It eats right thru all the food and grease. It only takes about a teaspoon for the average pan. You can also use it on stovetops and ovens.

To shine stainless steel sinks generously sprinkle either table salt or baking soda into the sink then use the cut end of half a fresh lemon as a scrubby-pad. Rinse with hot water and the sink will gleam
