We went out of town for a few days. When I returned, I saw that the person caring for our animals left the door to our guest room open. Our chihuahuas were allowed to defecate and urinate all over the futon mattress. The doo-doo was easy to clean up. Can I remove that much old dog urine, and the mattress be fresh-smelling, safe, and healthy to sleep on? Or, should I get rid of the mattress? Thank you!

FROM KIM!! Cleaning a mattress. I rubbed a bar of soap with a damp washcloth then used the washcloth to clean my son's mattress after he had a nighttime accident on it and it smells wonderful. I got on top of a towel on the wet spot and bounced to soak up the moisture.

Make a large flat bag of cotton sheeting to fit under your mattress. Then fill it loosely with dried beech leaves collected during autumn. It shouldn't be full so that it still lies flat. Place under your mattress as it works as an antibacterial and gives you restful dreams, remember to turn your mattress and change the leaves each autumn.

if you have a wet bed clean it with washing up liquid and warm water and scrub until all the stain is out, then get a couple of towles lay them over the area and bouce on the bed to get all the excess water of the mattress then if you can stand the mattress up on its side to air it with windows open
