For removing candle wax from your carpet - place wax paper, or paper towel over the wax spot, use an iron on a medium heat setting and move it over the paper towel or wax paper. The heat from the iron should soften the wax in the carpet, and the wax paper or paper towel should lift the wax off the carpet.

To use your iron skillets, if they are really rusty and bad you can put them in a wood fire and burn them and then wash them and spray them with cooking spray and wipe them out with a paper towel. If they aren't really bad, you can heat them good on the top of the stove and then spray them with cooking spray and wipe them out.

When cleaning ur oven. Make a paste of 1 cup og white washing powder and just under 1 cup white vinegar. Heat ur oven to 180 for about five minutes. Turn the oven off cover the inside in the paste, leave for 1 hour and all the gunk should come off. U may need to use a spatula to get the worse off but it does really work!!!! Saved me hours of scrubbing!!!!

Clean your gold jewelry on the cheap. The following applies to gold alone or with all stones but for opals, pearls, turquoise, mother-of-pearl, or any other delicate stone. Take out a coffee mug. Put one single drop of dishwashing liquid (for dishes by hand, not the dishwasher type) in the bottom and fill with LUKEWARM water. Carefully place the ring, bracelet or necklace you wish to clean on the bottom. Leave overnight. In the morning you will find a lot of dirt specks floating on top. Rinse jewelry gently with warm (never hot) water and dry thoroughly. Warning: Again, NOT for use with opals (which absorb water and are sensitive to extreme heat and cold) or turquoise or pearls, or any other stone which might absorb the water or be damaged by it or the chemicals in the dishwashing liquid.

Going on holiday? Don’t forget the plants! If you’ve got loads like we have, you can place them together which creates a cool mini plant environment, which can protect them from heat. Otherwise you could use a towel to partially block the bath plug and fill with a bit of water, placing the plants on the spread out towel. This should hold enough water for them to keep going for a week or two.

Save money and the environment – dust the back of your fridge. While nobody can see it, the dust on the back of your fridge is making yours inefficient. The science is that the pipes on the back heat up and cool down to keep your fridge at the right temperature. Once they’re covered in dust, which is an insulator, they can’t exchange this heat as well. You’ll save money on electric bills and keep your fridge in better shape as it won’t have to work so hard.

Top butter tip. To stop the butter sliding around the dish, stick a fresh block on after you’ve just removed the dish from the dishwasher, and the heat will make the bottom melt a bit. Stick it back in the fridge and it will reset in to a nice firm base.

Candle wax in the carpet comes out easily with an iron and some blotting paper. Just pop the paper on top and let the iron’s heat melt the wax into the carpet. Be careful not to scorch the carpet
