To anyone who hates to vacuum or hates the noise that most vacuums make, I suggest investing in the Roomba. The newer generations go over both carpeted and linoleum/hardwood floors and picks up the smallest particles, even pet hairs. It is also extremely quiet. You can barely hear it when you out of the room. You also get the added bonus of entertainment!

This isn't a tip, but I was just wondering how you get the yellow stain that some rubber-bottomed bath mats leave on linoleum floors. I've tried Vim and Bleach and scrubbing furiously, but it's stubborn and won't come out. If anyone knows how to get rid of the yellowing, please share your knowledge!

Before cleaning a bathroom (especially in homes with pets, and men who trim mustaches) I use the vacuum crevice tool attatchment to quickly vacuum up all the dry hair from floors, shower, sink etc. It's much easier than trying to clean (and catch !) all those unruly hairs once they get wet.

To remove/kill molds/mildow wipe surface with Listerine antiseptic Mouthwash. It will keep it from coming back as well. If you use Cool mint flavour, it will leave a fresh sent. (great for walls, floors, windows and even carpets)

Steamer: My new steamer's already paid for itself by cleaning my vinyl floors. We were going to get new floors, now we're not. Great!

Quick tip on how to keep you cabinet doors CLEAN! I use a disposible, pre-moistened mop for my kitchen floors (Swiffer, Mr Clean, etc). Before I use it on the floor, I wipe down all the cabinets. No reaching, superfast, super clean! If it dries just mist it with a little water.

Be careful to NEVER use ammonia based cleaners for floors or other cleaning (such as a trash container, or even windows) if you have pets. I was scrubbing my floors and patio doors with ammonia and hot water. Cleaned great but the dog mistook the ammonia smell for urine and now "marks its territory" where the ammonia cleaner was used. BAD! Ammonia smell will last long after another cleaner is used over it-- a dog can still smell it when we can't. Antibacterial is best.
