I clean a smelly garbage disposal with large chunks of grapefruit rind. It cleans the gunk off the blades, and leaves a fresh scent.

Microwave: A lot of people mention the lemon wedge in boiling water bit, but I also add 1/4 cup of baking soda. And when I had a garbage disposal I would run the leftover lemon through it. Cut it up pretty small though, I wouldn't want to be responsible for clogging yours up.

Sharpen your garbage disposal and clean it simultaneously. Just throw some ice cubes down it, and run it (before they melt). The ice helps push any odorous residue down the drain, but then melts away.

Put lemon peals in the food disposal and it will smell wonderful.

Don't toss used lemons in the trash-if you have a disposal in your sink toss the lemons in and give it a 'whirl'....the disposal will be sweet and fresh smelling

My waste disposal unit absolutely stinks, but I've started to put orange and lemon peel down it and it's smelling a whole lot better.
