For the rust cry for help... I would suggest scrubbing off what rust you can see, first, with baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) paste. Once the cooker is clean, use a dab of oil and polish the cooker. The oil will act as a barrier between the moist air and water that would otherwise feed the rust. It will be a problem from here on out, but if you treat it regularly with a bit of oil, it will lessen the likelihood of the rust returning to say hello!

What is the best way to clean a cooker?

With burnt-on gunk on the cooker, you don’t always have to soak. Using a plastic or wooden spoon, so you don’t scrape the surface, you can usually dislodge a good portion of the filth before you get to the rather messy soaking stage. This doesn’t apply to non stick surfaces, which should be treated with care to keep them non-sticky!

Burnt food and sticky grub always get stuck in the gaps on the top of the cooker">cooker. There is no way of preventing this from happening. So when you notice that the grime starts to build up in this area use a toothbrush and a tiny bit of toothpaste with water to take the grime away. Then to make it shine wipe it down with a dry fluff free cloth. ;]

when cleaning your cooker get a scraper (what you can buy from many stores) and scrape the dirt off of the hob. it saves alot of time! it is one of my best buys at £4.00. (prices may vary)

Soak oven shelves, trays and any other removable parts overnight in a solution of biological washing powder and hot water. Next day you can rinse and wipe the stains away.

make your own oven cleaner from one tablespoon of bicarbonate soda mixed with a good cup of hot water. Wipe the whole oven, including the glass door and shelves and the stain will gradually disappear
