I have window air conditioners. In humid weather I collect the water which discharges from the air conditioners by placing a bucket on the ground under the drip hole. I use this water to water my garden and potted outdoor plants. By washing my garden spade in the bucket after turning my compost, I also add fertilizer to the water.

I compost my garbage for my small garden. I place peelings and other vegetable waste in a plastic food storage tub next to my sink until it fills. Then I place the waste in my composter. The plastic food container tends to smell badly by the time it is full. I have found wiping it and the lid out with white vinegar and letting it air dry solves this problem with little fuss.

Orange and lemon peel: My mother always kept the long peel of oranges hanging in the kitchen. She would then recycle them via the washing up bowl until the scent was worn out... then the compost!

It's a pre-recycling one. When you've finished squeezing your lemon, don't chuck it in the bin or compost. Cut it open and rub it over your hair - it will give you natural highlights in the sun! Of course if you favour dark hair - stay well clear! Oh and of course - then chuck it in the compost bin :)
