Rug Cleaning Tip Always rub or brush lightly from the outer edge toward the center of the stain to prevent spreading or causing the ring when using solvents especially on twist rugs and pile carpets. On old, dry or stubborn stains, saturate, blot, and brush. Repeat this operation as often as necessary to remove the stain completely. There are two ways to get out oil stain out of carpets gemmaswift. One way is to take baby wipes & glass cleaner. Wipe the baby wipe on it really good then get a damp cloth and spray the glass cleaner on it and it will come up. And the second way is go to your part store and buy this product called Spray Nine and spray a little on the stain and then it will come up. I hope I'd helped. Pam-Doggirl3

Here's how I help keep my car clean. I keep a Swiffer duster under my car seat and just hit the dash etc. a couple of times a week. I use plastic grocery bags to gather trash, replacing them weekly. A small dust brush will take out debris from crevices and use for a quick brush of the carpets. It takes about 5 mins each time I do it.

Smelly carpets? I tackle mine with a good sprinkle of baking powder, left overnight to suck up the smells, and vacuum in the morning.

With burns in carpets, you can’t improve them by cleaning. After a few hours scrubbing I got nowhere. I achieved a much better result in seconds by trimming the burnt fibres off with some scissors. This works really well for smaller burns.

Long hair on carpets causes vacuum roller brushes to get clogged. Instead, get a large damp rag and rub over the rug. It'll pick up loads!

If you spill red wine on carpets instead of pouring white wine over it pour over lemonade it does exactly the same job and you get to save the white wine for yourself, who wants to waste wine on the floor!!

WHEN STEAM CLEANING CARPETS: Always be sure to vacuum thoroughly beforehand. Also, I have found that a mild vinegar and water solution will remove dirt, dust and allergens just as well as a carpet shampoo will. Plus, there's no shampoo residue left over to attract more dirt! If you're not keen on the smell of vinegar, add a few drops of essential oil to the vinegar/water mixture. Lavender and bergamot are my favorites.

Do NOT use ammonia for removing pet stains. It smells like urine to cats and dogs, so they will be tempted to return and relieve themselves in the same area. Use an enzyme based pet stain cleaner as directed- it gets the stain and smell out. If there is a present lingering dog/cat smell - get your carpets steam cleaned and get your pet potty trained! Don't coop them up in one space too long, or there will be accidents.

To get rid of basically any liquid stains (best works fresh or near to fresh) on carpets simply sprinkle some salt down, leave it and the stain will go into the salt, then vacume the salt away!

Just a general one but if you're cleaning stains out of carpets NEVER rub the stain, just blot it. If you rub it breaks down the fibres and makes the stain settle further into the fabric
