To keep a handle on candle wax, when it comes to lighting candles for the dinner table, I place four or five votives in a small dish, and pour a little bit of water into the dish. The water chills the dripped wax, and all you have to do is scoop it out and drain out the water.

There is a product on the market in the States that is amazing for removing stickers. It is called UNDU, and it comes in a bottle with a small scraper attached. To use it, simply use the scraper to lift a corner of the sticker, squeeze a few drops out, and use the scraper to keep lifting the sticker. Any glue residue can be wiped up with another drop or two and a paper towel. I have used this on new purchases and it is also safe for scrapbooking -- it dries and won't damage your paper. The same company also makes a candle wax remover, several bottles of which have been donated to my local church altar guild.

For removing candle wax from your carpet - place wax paper, or paper towel over the wax spot, use an iron on a medium heat setting and move it over the paper towel or wax paper. The heat from the iron should soften the wax in the carpet, and the wax paper or paper towel should lift the wax off the carpet.

for the candle wax, get a hairdryer on medium to high setting, 'blow dry' the wax while dabbing at it with a paper towel. this only takes a few minutes.

To remove wax from glass candle holders, try putting them in the freezer overnight, the next morning, just tap upside down on the counter and the wax will pop out!

To remove candle wax from larger items, use your blow dryer and warm the drippings up and remove with a paper towel.

To clean glass or ceramic candle holders, put in microwave for a short time, usually 30 seconds to a minute will do. Pop the wax out easily, or wipe it out with paper towel then wipe out residue with warm soapy water. This has saved me from throwing out and just giving up on many candle holders!

Question - How do I remove stubborn candle wax from a toilet? It was left burning (by my bf) on top of the toilet until it was all wax and melted everywhere! Help!!! I got most off with a spatuala, but some won't budge. I think I saw the girls remove candle wax from something but I can't remember how they did it. It looks so messy and is driving me crazy! Thanks for any help!

Re: "Essential oils" (i.e. lavender oil) question from a US user -- Look for an herbal shop, health foods shop, or a metaphysical shop. You might also have a go at a natural cosmetics shop (usually something only in large cities-- I saw one last, in Toronto). Otherwise, you might try as a next to the last resort, the candle/soap making aisle at a place like Hobby Lobby or Michaels/MJ Designs. All else fails: Google it. :D Good luck!

Candle wax in the carpet comes out easily with an iron and some blotting paper. Just pop the paper on top and let the iron’s heat melt the wax into the carpet. Be careful not to scorch the carpet
