To clean burnt food from under the stove, try a mixture of baking soda, salt, and water. It works wonders as a cleaner, and if you make a separate batch, it can be used as toothpaste, as well!

Not necessarily a tip, but I have a lot of trouble keeping my stove clean. It's a gas stove and it is on by pilot light all the time. When I go to clean it, its a pain in the booty to get clean. There are no drip pans. Granted I live in a rented townhouse. They supply nothing. It's an old stove. So, everything is burnt on. I work really hard to get it clean. I wipe it down when I am done. It just doesnt stay clean. I also have a dog that sheds a lot. So, there is always dog hair on it. I wipe it and try and keep her out of the kitchen but not always successful. Any help or tips? Thanks.

Question: Help! I have just bought my first home and found an oven from hell. There is seriously burnt on food all over the inside of the oven and plastic melted onto the oven door. What is the best way to clean off burnt food from your oven and how do I get rid of that awful burnt on plastic?

With burns in carpets, you can’t improve them by cleaning. After a few hours scrubbing I got nowhere. I achieved a much better result in seconds by trimming the burnt fibres off with some scissors. This works really well for smaller burns.

Burnt food and sticky grub always get stuck in the gaps on the top of the cooker">cooker. There is no way of preventing this from happening. So when you notice that the grime starts to build up in this area use a toothbrush and a tiny bit of toothpaste with water to take the grime away. Then to make it shine wipe it down with a dry fluff free cloth. ;]

If you need to clean your oven then try leaving a pan of ammonia in it overnight. It will soften the burnt on stains and make it easy to wipe away with a regular cleaner the next day.
