To Michele with the burns on her glass cooktop--Have you tried the non-scratch Comet powder? Lightly dampen the scorched area, and sprinkle the Comet over it. Place a damp paper towel over that to help it stay moist and penetrate the stain. Let it sit a while (an hour?), then wipe it up with the paper towel or a nylon scrubber
brighten a whole room by dry dusting the light bulbs!
Also from learning the hard way:
NEVER wipe those light bulbs with a dryer sheet! It smells so good at first, then the perfume burns and smokes and turns your bulb black. Live & learn!
With burns in carpets, you can’t improve them by cleaning. After a few hours scrubbing I got nowhere. I achieved a much better result in seconds by trimming the burnt fibres off with some scissors. This works really well for smaller burns.
