For cleanerbod re damp cupboards, I read this tip: Remove everything and wipe down all the surfaces. Use vinegar, tea tree oil (diluted one part to 10 parts water) or Borax Natural Wood Treatment (£8, from greenshop.co.uk, 01452 770629). Leave the doors open and allow to dry thoroughly. In each cupboard, place a bowl of activated charcoal (try Eheim Ehfikarbon, £2.59 a litre, from aquarium shops or swelluk.com, 0845 658 9599) or a dehumidifier egg, designed to reduce air moisture content in small areas (lakeland.co.uk). Be sure not to overfill, leaving plenty of space for air to circulate.

The microwave ovens at my workplace are badly abused. I am usually the one to take responsibility for cleaning them. During my lunch break, I place a bowl of water in and nuke it on high for 10 minutes. The steam softens up the gunk and it wipes away easily.

The microwave in my house tends to get a build up of dried on food spatters. As I do my weekly cleaning, I put a glass bowl that can hold about a pint of water and turn the microwave on for about 10 minutes. The steam from the water helps loosen dried on food! I do other cleaning while the bowl is in the microwave cooking. Most times I just wipe it all out and then rinse with bleach-water. For tougher food spatters, just repeat!

When preparing dinner, keep a bowl handy to throw in your veggie peelings and other garbage while preparing your food. Makes for easy clean up. As well before I start my prep. I fill the sink with hot soapy water to put the dishes in that I am using. Supper time is easy and effortless!

Instead of using a feather duster which will just move dust around your room, fill a bowl with hot water and add a few drops of your favourite essential oil (I recommend lemon and lavender). Then soak a clean rag in the bowl, wring out and use to pick up dust. You'll enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy while giving your house a great smell and an eco friendly clean!

Orange and lemon peel: My mother always kept the long peel of oranges hanging in the kitchen. She would then recycle them via the washing up bowl until the scent was worn out... then the compost!

I have a mirco-swade sofa in which my son decided to pour coffe on. How do I get it cleaned without getting the softness all messed up? Answer Stancy: Use a baby wipe for the top part of coffee stain, then a bowl of warm soapy water & a wet terry cloth. Ring the cloth out & rub it until the stain is out. Then pat it gently like you are combing & it will not lose it softness. Let dry for a while then sit & enjoy. Pam-Doggirl3

To get out ink off of fabrics use a baby wipe first to test to see if that will come out, if not take a bowl of warm water, soapbar & small brush to the laudry room with the stain fabric & rub the fabric with the wet bar really good then with the soap is on the fabric add spray & wash on it and scrub real well with the brush then put in washer to extra cleaning. The ink will come out for sure.

To keep your refridgerator smelling fresh place a bowl of water and add one tea spoon of bicarbonate soda and half a lemon. Leave this in your fridge for at least an hour and your fridge will be smelling absolutly gorgous.

After seeing Kim use a pumice stone to remove lime scale from a toilet bowl, I tried the same technique on the hard water buildup on the tiles in my shower. It worked!

Don't forget your pets! I clean my pet's supper dishes at least twice a week to avoid cross contamination of bacteria, etc. Also, if you feed your pet canned food, serve it on an old crockery plate instead of in a pet bowl. Plates are so much easier to wash up, so you won't be tempted to put doggie's dinner on a dirty plate. Woof!

to get rid of fag smells, put a bowl of vinegar hidden in a room - cover the bowl with cling film and make tiny holes in it so it doesn't spill

when your washing up bottle is empty and you cant get any more out, turn it upside down and squeeze it in your bowl of water with the bottle half way under the water. This sucks up water into the bottle and gathers soap left in it. You will find that you wont need to buy another bottle yet till aleast three times since using my tip! xx

You can use alka-seltzer to clean a lot of things. leave them in about an inch of water in a bowl and then use it to clean up metal items, vases, even jewellery.

If you've used a plastic bowl with raw onions, fill with water and a tablespoon of Milton and leave to soak overnight. The smell will be gone in the morning.
