To Lorimay, who has grease stains on glass: Have you tried the K&A standard of 1 part vinegar, 1 part warm water, and a few squirts of liquid soap? The vinegar and soap are both great grease fighters. I have just used this on a very old mucky sash window I picked up at a flea market (read: picture frame) and it turned out very well. Mix the ingredients in a spray bottle and use crumpled newspaper to wipe. This will take a little bit of elbow grease, but it works like a charm.

I live in the US. There is a product in the market called Shower Fresh. I spray it on my glass shower doors, tiles, entire tub/shower space, after every shower. I rarely have to really scrub my shower or tub. I wonder if there is a way to make something at home that would work as well, but save money. Any suggestions?

We have old Edwardian brilliant cut glass badly stained with 100+ years of coal dust, smoke & nicotine which seemed impossible to clean with conventional cleaners. We made a paste of bicarb & vinegar and smeared over, left it for 15 minutes and washed off with a bit of elbow grease - the glass is now sparkling clean.

The microwave in my house tends to get a build up of dried on food spatters. As I do my weekly cleaning, I put a glass bowl that can hold about a pint of water and turn the microwave on for about 10 minutes. The steam from the water helps loosen dried on food! I do other cleaning while the bowl is in the microwave cooking. Most times I just wipe it all out and then rinse with bleach-water. For tougher food spatters, just repeat!

To remove wax from glass candle holders, try putting them in the freezer overnight, the next morning, just tap upside down on the counter and the wax will pop out!

Have glass shower doors! After a good cleaning use rainX (for cars) on it. It repels water leaving no spots.

To Michele with the burns on her glass cooktop--Have you tried the non-scratch Comet powder? Lightly dampen the scorched area, and sprinkle the Comet over it. Place a damp paper towel over that to help it stay moist and penetrate the stain. Let it sit a while (an hour?), then wipe it up with the paper towel or a nylon scrubber

To effectively clean a glass top stove (I hate the white one that came in my new house!!) what you do is take a straight edge razor blade scraper and scrape extra residue off. Weiman's glass top cleaner (available at Wal-Mart) and a paper towel work wonders. If you still have those dreadful black boil over marks a magic eraser can work wonders too.

To clean glass or ceramic candle holders, put in microwave for a short time, usually 30 seconds to a minute will do. Pop the wax out easily, or wipe it out with paper towel then wipe out residue with warm soapy water. This has saved me from throwing out and just giving up on many candle holders!

I live in a hardwater area and suffered with problems with limescale especially on glass shower door, a friend of mine recommended blue toilet duck, I was desperate, I tried it and it worked!! I just put it, on rubbed it around then left it for a few minutes, rubbed it again and rinsed off, it was the only thing that worked for me.

There are two ways to get out oil stain out of carpets gemmaswift. One way is to take baby wipes & glass cleaner. Wipe the baby wipe on it really good then get a damp cloth and spray the glass cleaner on it and it will come up. And the second way is go to your part store and buy this product called Spray Nine and spray a little on the stain and then it will come up. I hope I'd helped. Pam-Doggirl3

make your own oven cleaner from one tablespoon of bicarbonate soda mixed with a good cup of hot water. Wipe the whole oven, including the glass door and shelves and the stain will gradually disappear

For some savings, use automotive windshield washer fluid diluted in water to clean windows and other non-drinking glass in the house. Use a soft lint free cloth like an old T-shirt to wipe dry. This leaves streak free sparkling glass.
