Not a tip but a question. I have been told that you can use Citric acid to descale a kettle but does anyone know if it can be used on plastic kettles or other plastic items such as a pet drinking fountain?

To clean an automatic dishwasher put EITHER a cup of white vinegar OR 1/2 cup Citric Acid in the bottom and run it through a cycle. You can get Citric Acid in most Pharmacies.

Try using citric acid to clean mold and mildew off of your bathroom tiles. Much more environmentally friendly than bleach

To descale your kettle mix a teaspoon of citric acid (available from your local pharmacy) with a pint of warm water, leave in the kettle for 3 hours and it should be clean as a whistle
