If you spill bleach on something- immediately put vinegar on the spill and it will keep it from ruining the fabric. Vinegar stops the action chemical action of the bleach

Having hacked a finger off attempting to build some shelves I found that bloodstains can be removed from carpet by soaking in cold water, blotting with some kitchen roll and then finishing off with carpet shampoo - the finger got sewn back on...

If you need to clean wallpaper try using stale bread thats been ever so slightly moistened. It get marks off without having to use soap.
