To clean any spills in the oven, sprinkle with automatic dishwasher powder, cover with wet paper towels let stand for a few hours, then clean with a damp sponge

to get rid of the unsightly build up at the bottom of a vase, add a few drops of automatic dishwasher detergent and fill with hot water, soak overnight, then rinse

To descale a kettle buy 1 litre of lemon juice, some bicarbonate of soda, a bottle of vinegar. Then buy some kettle descaler and put the rest in a cupboard. Works a treat.

stick the top of your kitchen bin in the dishwasher which will leave it sparkling, making the kitchen feel cleaner

If you want to make your rubber gloves last longer then turn them inside out and stick sticking plaster to the fingers - it'll stop them rubbing through so quickly.

Apparently you can remove rust stains from plastic work surfaces with lemon juice - didn't work when I tried it but maybe I needed a higher concentration of juice...

Using bleach? Only ever add it to cold water. If you put it in hot water the bits that do the work evaporate reducing it's cleaning and germ killing power.

My homemade cleaner recipe. Tanke 16 oz. of alcohol add enough water to almost make a gallon of cleaner, then add 1 tbsp. dish liquid, 2 tbsp. white vinegar, and 1 tbsp. ammonia. The cleaner has no smell and shows no mercy to dirt and leaves things sparkling.

Question: So Kim & Aggie always mention biological washing powder andit seams to work wonders for EVERYTHING, but I have no idea what this could possibly be. Anyone know what we call this in the States?

When cleaning ur oven. Make a paste of 1 cup og white washing powder and just under 1 cup white vinegar. Heat ur oven to 180 for about five minutes. Turn the oven off cover the inside in the paste, leave for 1 hour and all the gunk should come off. U may need to use a spatula to get the worse off but it does really work!!!! Saved me hours of scrubbing!!!!

You can use alka-seltzer to clean a lot of things. leave them in about an inch of water in a bowl and then use it to clean up metal items, vases, even jewellery.
